March 14 is the Deadline for the National CDBG National Sign-On Letter
The CDBG Coalition is circulating a national sign-on letter urging Congress to support increased funding for CDBG in FY26. Please join state and local organizations in urging Congress to increase CDBG funding to $4.2 billion. Please also ask your subrecipients and program partner organizations to sign the letter by March 14.
Participate in National Community Development Week – April 21-25
National Community Development Week is April 21-25. Communities across the country will come together to celebrate the impact of and the need for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) program. NCDA urges all members to plan an activity during this week to increase awareness of the impact of the programs locally and the need for more program funding. National Community Development Week is intentionally held during the Congressional appropriations process so that communities can invite their Congressional offices to participate in local events to support the programs.
FY2026 will be a tough budget year and CDBG and HOME funding are expected to be zeroed out in the Administration’s budget request. We will have to take our fight to Congress to protect program funding. We will need your grassroots action during National Community Development Week to help support the programs during this tumultuous budget year.
The last day to order National CD Week products is April 3. The postcards are an especially useful product to use in communicating the benefits of the programs to Congressional offices.
Survey: HUD Staffing Cuts
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has taken unprecedented steps to dismantle federal agencies through deep staffing cuts. These cuts will have a profound impact on local communities. To help NCDA ascertain the impact of the HUD staffing cuts, please share your knowledge of confirmed staffing cuts in your field office. Please also share how these cuts have impacted on your work. NCDA will share this information with its members and with Congressional offices to advocate for HUD and for CPD programs.
