PRIMER COURSES – On Demand

More intense courses, designed to give practitioners a solid basis for administering the programs. Attendees taking the HOME Basics course have the option of taking an online exam during the week following the class. If they pass, they’ll receive an NCDA completion certificate. Two year’s experience in the HOME Program is highly recommended and the HOME Primer course is a pre-requisite for those with less than a year’s experience. Discounted registration for the On-Demand Primer is provided with paid Basics registration.

This two day course provides a follow up to the HOME Basics course with a more detailed look at actual HOME funded projects, including grant agreements, initial and ongoing compliance, and the use of innovative partnerships to more effectively address housing needs with HOME funds. The course includes assignments and group work. At the host community’s request, a third day is sometimes offered, focusing exclusively on HOME underwriting requirements. At least two year’s experience in the HOME Program is highly recommended and the HOME Basics course is a pre-requisite for this course.

Interested in hosting an Advanced level course in your community? NCDA relies on member communities to host classes. All you need to do is provide access to a training room that seats at least 35 people, has a screen, laptop, and projector. If the room is large or has bad acoustics, a microphone and speaker is appreciated. For more information about hosting a course in your city, contact NCDA Staff!
